Why I’m Not NaNo-ing This Month.

So, November is upon us and my inbox is flooded with e-mails: NaNoWriMo! NaBloPoMo! Write more in November! Take a deep breath, everyone. Relax. I GOT THE MESSAGE. ALL TWENTY OF THEM.

I’m not participating. November marks the end of the school year for me, and is traditionally a time where I procrastinate by playing games do lots of schoolwork to make sure I pass finish out the year. There’s no way I can post every month. I’ve already faltered, and it’s only the sixth! So, I decided to give it a miss this year. No 50,000 word novel, no failed promises, no guilt or pressure. Instead, I’m going to finish my classes and begin my holidays, doing what I want to do. If it involves writing, great. If not, too bad.

More than likely, it will involved sleeping, copious amounts of Coke and Mentos, and lots of doing nothing.

P.S - I only have three classes left! Squee!

Brought to you by Studio Canal.

Don’t you find it intriguing, given the scene Basic Instinct is most famous for (not to mention the opening scene) that one of the producers/distributors is now Studio Canal? Amusing.

I now have two weeks until the official end of the school year. I have classes on Friday, Monday and Tuesday - then I’m done. Homework is going well, if slowly, and I should have everything finished in time. Plans for the holidays, right now, include finishing SQ’s manual, keeping up on WB and learning PHP. I had originally planned on going away for a week, but guess what? I suck at saving money.

Apparently, I also suck at writing blog entries.

Fun with Google.

According to a very reliable source - otherwise known as my site statistics - someone ended up at my blog while they were looking for help with a rather delicate issue. I believe that the exact search term was ‘feeling like I’m menustrating[sic] but nothing there‘.

Good luck, anonymous searcher. Please don’t take any advice you may have found here.

Oh, and for the person who ended up here looking for ‘foxtel heroes’? Foxtel is only showing Season ONE of Heroes, and even then they’re showing it all at once, so you have to sit up for a million hours to see it all. If you meant ‘heroes’ in the literal sense, you’re simply looking in the wrong place. Find some new heroes.

Sarah Palin: One Good Thing.

Sarah Palin has done at least one good thing this year; she’s the reason I’m following the upcoming American presidential elections so closely. In fact, Sarah Palin is also the reason I’m becoming more interested in Australian politics. Unfortunately, Sarah Palin has a tiny problem: she’s incapable of coherent speech.

(I really like saying, ‘Sarah Palin’, for some reason.)

I think – optimistically – that she actually managed to answer two of the questions asked at the VP debate. The rest of the time, she discussed topics too early, too late or too much; not to mention constantly throwing barbs at Biden. For all that effort though, the debate may as well have been titled ‘Biden pwns Palin’.

For the first time in my life, I’m looking forward to an election. I can’t wait to see how it progresses, I’m looking forward to the result, I’m involved and active. Hell, I’m even watching interviews! But be warned, America. If McCain wins on November 4th, I don’t think I’ll still respect you in the morning.

I Don’t Know How Bees Do It.

Busy, busy, busy. So much to do, so little time.

I could say that I’ve been doing heaps, but the truth is? I haven’t. I’ve been stalling, treading water, standing still. It can’t continue. I have too much to do, and I can’t keep juggling everything the way that I have been. So, basically… I have to stop procrastinating, and actually get off my butt and do stuff.

Heh, I know. It’s an odd concept.

I’m studying for a test next Friday, writing a 2,500 word short story that’s due on Monday, and I plan on critiquing a few pieces of work on WB this evening. Reading blogs has fallen by the wayside, but I hope to catch up on the weekend. It can be done, so long as I actually do stuff instead of sitting around aimlessly.

I have a job, for the moment. I start bright and early on Monday morning.

Life isn’t dull or gloomy right now. It has been illuminated – however briefly – and I’m happy, content even. I have my driving test on the 15th, and I’m nervous but I’m not panicking. My room is semi-clean, and things are slowly being organised and shuffled into places I will actually keep them. Seriously, organised.

And, I plan to start writing again, starting tonight. I’ve missed it.

Blog Lazy.

I found an interesting link today, via Bluepaintred’s site. Have you heard of ‘The Lazy Bloggers Post Generator’? It allows you to customise a whole heap of options that are then strung together to make a blog post, apologising for not blogging. Of course, I had to check it out, so here you go:

Crikey! I just climbed out from under my rock and realised I have not updated this since Hammertime was in the charts… You would not believe that my hands were chopped off and I was waiting for bionic ones. Apologies!

I am lost in a sea of pseudo-olde-english with an awfully big adventure, selling my soul to Google, just generally being a biatch to the servants, my day is passing in a blur from the light through yonder window breaks to whenever. I am putting money aside so I can run away. but this damned rock is heavy.

I absolutely, positively promise I will write something that makes sense soon. You have my word! I really, truly promise!

The sad thing is, it’s not that different from most of my posts, heh.

How Foxtel Is Ruining My Life.

Although I confessed to being an ANTM addict yesterday, there are only three shows that I actually watch regularly on normal – that is, free-to-air - television:

  • Grey’s Anatomy;
  • Heroes; and
  • Ugly Betty

When we had Foxtel installed just a short time ago, I had an IQ unit set-up in my bedroom, because of my ultra-busy and fabulous life. Heh, or really just because I’m never home in time for primetime television, because of school. No matter! IQ can record shows, and it can be scheduled remotely and blah, blah, blah.

Only, here’s the thing: Foxtel, for some reason, isn’t airing Channel Seven.

Naturally, all three of the shows I listed above? On Channel Seven. Of course. At first, I was all, “It’s cool, because Heroes hasn’t started yet and Grey’s Anatomy is replaying on Channel W and I can always buy Ugly Betty on DVD.” And then Gentil messaged me, and said, “Woo! Heroes is starting on Thursday.”

That’s when I reached through the IM window and killed him. True story.

Anyway. Now I have this fancy, expensive piece of hardware sitting in my room, doing absolutely nothing useful for me, and I am faced with a choice. I can either go and stay at my ex-boyfriend’s house every Thursday (…) or, I can do without the new season of Heroes until it comes out on DVD in ten million years.

Bets, everyone?
