Above It All.

A single tear slides down her cheek,
He turns his head away.
She moves her hand towards him,
He shrinks back, as if afraid.

They’re sitting in this gorgeous park,
Surrounded by such beauty,
And yet he goes and breaks her heart,
Breaks it slowly and absolutely.

I’m watching them with compassion,
As he stands, then walks to his car,
Leaving her there to mourn the love,
That failed and left a scar.

I am high, above the trees,
Safe from all hurt and pain,
And down below the woman cries,
But wait, do I know her name?

Here I sit in this gorgeous park,
Surrounded by such beauty,
Watching my lover walk away;
He broke my heart absolutely.
